Francis T. Eck Exhibition Corridor

ICAT: Open (at the) Source provides a glimpse into the highly dynamic research created by students and faculty through the support of the Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology and Moss Arts Center facilities, staff, and grant funding. This spring ICAT is delighted to present innovative collaborations between researchers from across Virginia Tech under the theme of Perspectives.

Showcasing projects at the intersection of geography and computer science, evolutionary genomics and visual art, and documentary film and the natural sciences, these works translate and reposition the viewer with the subject, the organic with the permanent, and the modular with the immersive. Each works takes place between the observer and the observed, enabling a view of the space we take when we observe the world--the space of technology, post-human perception, or microscopic abstraction. These perspectives both contain and extend the limits of human knowledge, magnify the scope of our curiosity, and reveal the multitude of fissures, bonds, and structures that we rely on when we describe reality.
