One of the first independent musicians to harness the power of YouTube and social media, Sam Tsui has created and grown a social following of over five million loyal fans who call themselves the #Samily. His videos, including covers, medleys, and mashups, have amassed over 500 million views on YouTube alone. Each new release, including his latest single, A Million Pieces, contributes to his ever-expanding worldwide fanbase.
Now hailed as an internet singing sensation, Tsui and his production partner Kurt Schneider began by uploading videos in their dorm room at Yale University. Their first viral hit was their Michael Jackson Medley in 2010, which led them to produce their first original album Make It Up in 2013.
Tsui has been able to harness the ever-changing tools of the digital music age to independently create an internationally popular channel and brand, garnering him countless television appearances, including The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Oprah Winfrey Show. He has served as a digital correspondent on American Idol and The Sing Off and has worked with top brands including KIA, Mars, Dell, Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Google, Marriott, and Disney. Turning digital success into ticket sales, Tsui has toured both domestically and internationally, opening for artists such as Bon Jovi, Ariana Grande, and most recently DNCE.
This is a Moss Arts Center Student Ambassador's Choice event.
