Community Arts Impact Fund Facility Rent Subsidy Program

An architectural detail in the Monumental Staircase at the Center for the Arts

What Is the Program?

Thanks to generous support from private donors, the Center for the Arts is piloting a program to provide rent subsidies for regional organizations that use our facilities. These funds make community organizations’ performances and arts events more affordable to produce and more accessible to the public, and broaden the Center for the Arts’ impact in service to the region.

Do I Qualify?

Eligible applicants must be non-university, non-governmental, private nonprofit 501(C)(3) organizations based in the New River Valley. The region is defined for these purposes as the counties of Giles, Pulaski, Montgomery, and Floyd; the towns within those counties; and the independent City of Radford, Virginia.

Use of the rented spaces within the Center for the Arts must be for primarily arts and arts-related experiences that celebrate creativity and foster community. The Center for the Arts reserves the right to decline subsidies for events that fall outside of this scope (e.g., partisan political activities). All facility rentals are subject to existing center policies, rates, and procedures for facility use.

How to Apply

Applications for funding may be submitted now for events that occur between July 1, 2026 and June 30, 2027 (“rental season”). Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all funds are allocated. Applicants will be notified of the status of their request within two weeks of submission. If approved, the subsidy will be applied to the final invoice following the event.

NOTE: Approval for rent subsidy does NOT guarantee or constitute a rental confirmation. Applicants must submit their inquiries and information through the center’s standard rental portal and complete a rental contract in order to confirm dates.

Organizations may apply for up to 50% of their total rental space fee (this does not include charges for staffing, ticketing, housekeeping, etc.), up to a maximum of $2,500. Organizations that apply for more than one event in a single rental season will be limited to a total maximum allocation of $3,000 for all events during that season. If an event is canceled, the rent subsidy will not be awarded or carried forward.
