"The Ju Percussion Group has dedicated, vibrant and highly competent musicians."

The New York Times

Ju Percussion Group of Taiwan is one of Asia’s most influential contemporary percussion ensembles, known for its virtuosic fusion of Eastern and Western traditions.

In Energy ∞ Infinite, traditional Asian instruments and techniques meet contemporary forms in a vibrant dialogue of rhythm, movement, and sound.

Celebrating the ensemble’s 40th anniversary, the program features works commissioned by Ju Percussion from composers around the world, including a new piece co-commissioned by the Center for the Arts. With breathtaking precision and physical intensity, the performers transform the stage into a kinetic landscape of sound, where rhythm becomes both language and spectacle.

Drawing from both Eastern and Western percussion traditions, Energy ∞ Infinite reflects the ensemble’s ongoing artistic evolution and its commitment to expanding the expressive language of contemporary percussion. Showcasing the ensemble’s signature blend of precision, physicality, and musical imagination, traditional instruments and techniques are placed in dialogue with contemporary forms, creating a performance that is at once rooted in cultural heritage and oriented toward the future.

More than a display of virtuosity, Energy ∞ Infinite embodies Ju Percussion Group’s belief in rhythm as a universal force — one that transcends borders, connects cultures, and continues to generate new creative energy. The program invites audiences of all ages to experience percussion as a living, evolving art form, driven by collective spirit and infinite possibility.

Parking is available in the North End Parking Garage on Turner Street at 300 Turner Street NW.

  • For many Center for the Arts performances and large events, this garage will be staffed by an attendant and payment ($10, cash only) must be made at the time of entry.
